A new addition to my reading log this time was: The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company, written by Robert Iger himself.
As usual, I listened to every chapter while doing my daily workout routine.
This book tells the story of Robert Iger's career—how he worked his way up to becoming Disney's CEO and the challenges and triumphs he faced along the way.
Of course, much more happened than what’s covered in the book—no career path is truly linear—but Iger shares valuable insights into high-stakes negotiations with the board, the complexities of acquiring major companies, and, most importantly, how he managed his team and dealt with equally powerful executives.
His journey is filled with remarkable achievements, offering a fascinating glimpse into life at the highest levels of the corporate world. It also highlights how decision-making at that level has ripple effects that extend far beyond the boardroom.
I particularly enjoyed how he described the behaviors and attitudes of those around him during key events. Learning from their choices adds another layer of insight.
I really enjoyed this book, and I highly recommend it!
