“Bro, just Google it!”

A sentence we’ve all heard, said, or silently judged someone with.

But here’s the thing:

Yes, search engines are powerful. Stack Overflow is a gold mine. ChatGPT’s right here too. But sometimes, telling someone to “just Google it” is like handing a map to someone who doesn’t know where they are in the first place.

Some devs:

  • Don’t know what keywords to search
  • Don’t know if they’re asking the right question
  • Get overwhelmed by a sea of conflicting answers
  • Feel dumb, fast

And that’s where mentorship matters.

That’s where documentation with love matters.

That’s where community matters.

We’ve all been that junior who didn’t even know what “npm install” really did.

We’ve all Googled “what does async await really mean?” more than once.

And that’s okay.

So, instead of “just Google it,” what if we asked:

🔹 “What have you tried so far?”

🔹 “Want me to walk through it with you?”

🔹 “Here’s a term you might want to look up.”

It doesn’t take long, but it builds something real.

And one day, they’ll be the dev saying, “Yo, I got you.”
