There has been so much discussion going on in the online forums and backrooms of companies about how "AI is going to replace us". While there are some truly genuine concerns that AI is replacing some of the work that we used to do by hand, the best across the industry agrees with me, it's not here to replace the actual people doing the jobs. Well, unless you're still doing something that an AI tool can already do.
Just a slightly disclaimer before we dive into this discussion, I was never gifted or became the best because I had some ability that I was borned with. In fact, I had to work really hard, made a lot of sacrifices and endure a whole lot of shit before I got to become the best at what I can do today. So, as we dive into this discussion today, keep in mind that I still remember what it is like to be like most of you. And I will never ever forget that. I can't.
But now that I'm finally at the very top of my fields, what does the view truly look like from here? Well, the answer is quite simple: we still need you (actual people) to do the jobs that you are currently thinking will be taken over by AI. In fact, as you go higher, you will begin to appreciate the fact that people can notice things, make observations that an AI tool can't. While AI has been an incredible piece of innovation in today's context, it still doesn't have the capability to function like an actual human brain 🧠. It probably won't be at that level for another 20~30 years.
So, all this doom-and-gloom backroom discussions about the fear of AI might actually be just "fear".
AI is Meant to Replace Some of the Work We Used to Do
Speaking as someone that now has the opportunity to collaborate and work with some of the best in the industry, and across different fields, the consensus among us is the same, we're not afraid of what AI can do and what it means for our careers. We embrace it because we know that understanding it's limits and benefits can help propel us forward. Collectively, we view it as a good thing that with various AI tools today, it can help us to accelerate our workflows, allowing us to produce the kinds of end results that would've taken weeks, or even months to achieve in the past.
An Evolution of the Human Psyche
Being a top professional working with and surrounded by other top professionals today, I am here to tell you that the biggest change and shift for us human beings is not that AI will eventually replace us, but rather the need to evolve when it comes to our human psyche. When you talk to some of the best in your fields about AI, they will tell you just about the same thing, AI is a tool. It won't be all good, and it most certainly can't be bad either. It all depends on the person using it, how we use it, and why we use it. When a professional begins to accept both the benefits and limitations of AI, that is also the moment when things will begin to shift for that person. This is ultimately, and always has been about mindset change.
Closing Thoughts
How are you currently using AI in your day-to-day operations? What were some of the benefits that you have experienced so far versus the limitations that you've encountered? What are your thoughts on the psyche evolution that I've mentioned above?
