Problem

Last week, I tried to book AWS exam from Pakistan and I found a pretty weird issue:

The credit card payment option is not available for this order. If you need additional information, please contact customer service.

Alternate Options

Then I started looking into options:

  • Buy a voucher.

  • Book on-site exam from approved testing center of Pearson VUE.

How I booked using a Credit Card

I wanted to buy it myself as I had 50% off voucher and wanted to give it from the comfort of my home.

So, this is what I followed:

1. Log in to CertMetrics

Go to CertMetrics and log in with your AWS certification credentials.

2. Update Your Address

  • Navigate to Profile > Address.

  • Update your address to a business address in the USA (e.g., your employer’s address if available).

(You can also use any acceptable address from an AWS-supported region.)

3. Proceed with Exam Booking

  • After updating the address in CertMetrics, go back to the exam booking page.

  • Start the booking process as usual.

  • Important: During the actual booking process, use your correct personal address.

4. Payment

  • Now, the credit card payment option should be available.

  • Complete the booking and payment as normal.

Few Things to Keep in Mind:

Why this works: The payment options you see depend partly on the region listed in your CertMetrics profile. Updating it to a supported country unlocks the credit card option.

Is this safe/legal? From what I’ve seen (and what others have shared), it’s a common workaround. As long as you’re honest about your identity and take the exam from your actual location, there shouldn’t be any problems.

Important Tip: When you actually book the exam, make sure you enter your real personal address. This helps avoid any issues later, especially during identity verification before your exam.
